An Entirely New Genre of Online Engagement

  • Loneliness and social isolation are CRITICAL and COSTLY health problems.
  • Social isolation and loneliness are the hallmarks of life for many seniors and people with disabilities.
  • Loneliness costs Medicare an estimated $6.7 billion annually.

A scientific collaboration with the University of Montana and Cornell University inadvertently led Montana’s Dunrovin Guest Ranch to create D@D as a webcam-based Cyber Front Porch.

In human terms, D@D is a cyber front porch where people gather in a safe place to immerse themselves in life at Dunrovin Ranch, socialize, participate in activities, help one another, and be part of the Dunrovin neighborhood no matter where their feet are.
In technical terms, D@D is a subscription-based, member-driven, and content-focused social platform. D@D uses high tech (webcams) and low tech (snail mail) to engage members with Dunrovin’s landscapes, animals, people, activities, and each other.
